Newsletter - Paint, paint, paint

This week, I pushed ahead with painting, trying to make as many as possible before my work trip in a few weeks. I’ve somehow gotten into the filter bubble of stripes on Pinterest, and I keep choosing it…. It seems I like it. I’m trying not to take too long per painting, so going for more simplistic artworks. I have some favourites, and some less so, but I guess that’s bound to happen.

I’ve been knitting a lot in the evenings, working on the jumper. The bottom ribbing is probably a bit too tight, so it puffs out on the body. Hopefully, I can stretch the ribbing during blocking. Generally, I prefer a tighter rib on the waist, but in this case, it might be too much. The front and back parts are done and I’m onto the collar, then I need to knit the sleeves. Maybe by next week I’ll have it finished. It’s simple stocknette all the way, so it’s quite fast.

On the field, I’m pruning blackberries. I took a good few cuts when I got hot and had my arms somewhat bare, which I shouldn’t have done. But anyway, it’s a fight against the thorny canes, and I’m determined to win. I have a plan to cull the number of canes, and add little paths between them so in theory I can reach all the canes when I harvest. I will need to keep pruning and maintaining it over the growing season though, rather than let it do what it wants all year, and end up with something impenetrable again.

I replanted some roses I had planted in the hedge line, for some strange reason. Now I’ve positioned them in a square formation, so hopefully I’ll have a bit of a rose garden.

Hi there I'm Charlotte from London and I am a Millennial hobbiest. By that I mean I love making things, for both the process and the outcomes. On this blog I talk about all the things I'm working on and learning each week. On some projects I will go into a bit more detail on what I did and my experience through it.

Some facts about me:

- I am not a perfectionist, preferring to complete something than to attempt to make something flawless.

- I am in a constant cycle of building up inspiration, executing the ideas, then winding down to reflect and regenerate.

- I am interested in almost anything that can be made from scratch using nature / natural materials.

Thanks for stopping by!
