Newsletter - Pica Pau Animals

I’m back in London after a long while away. Happy to be back and working on all my personal projects. While I was in Mexico, I bought a big batch of cotton amigurumi yarn, as is something I’ve been thinking about buying. There is this set of pattern books called Pica Pau that my aunt showed me. She’s crocheted basically every animal in the three books, and I thought they were really cute animals, so wanted to do the same. I happened to find a knitting and crochet shop while in Mexico city and the yarn seemed perfect so I bought about 10 different balls each in a different colour.

So far I’ve made two animals, a dog and a hedgehog, which I love. They’re so fun and cute. I’m now making a chicken. I’m already starting to run out of certain colours, so will have to get creative with colour substitutions. I want this to be a multi animal project using just the batch I bought initially.

Other than that, I haven’t found more yarn yet to finish the blue jumper. I will need to go to a Hobbycraft to get some more arylic yarn that would pair well.

Since I’ve been back home I’ve gone to the field a number of times to catch up on some work there. My order of 80+ fruit trees and shrubs was delivered so I got busy planting them. Lots of progress is being made and I plan to continue working a lot on the field these next few months, before spring really starts kicking off.

In the garden, I’ve been sowing seeds, starting them in my plastic covered rack outside. I bought new compost and seed trays, so already starting better than last year. Am still waiting for germination, but it will soon be exciting as the seedlings grow.

Hi there I'm Charlotte from London and I am a Millennial hobbiest. By that I mean I love making things, for both the process and the outcomes. On this blog I talk about all the things I'm working on and learning each week. On some projects I will go into a bit more detail on what I did and my experience through it.

Some facts about me:

- I am not a perfectionist, preferring to complete something than to attempt to make something flawless.

- I am in a constant cycle of building up inspiration, executing the ideas, then winding down to reflect and regenerate.

- I am interested in almost anything that can be made from scratch using nature / natural materials.

Thanks for stopping by!
